Humanae {A Chromatic Inventory}

What started as a project out of Barcelona, has transformed into an international initiative to capture all possible human skin tones based on the Pantone colour system.
Acknowledged as the renowned authority on colour, Pantone LLC  provides leading technology for the "selection and accurate communication of colour across a variety of industries".

The Humanae project is a series of portraits, where subjects are photographed and then matched with a background of their exact corresponding Pantone tone.
The projects creator Angelica Dass {a Fashion and Fine Arts university graduate from Rio de Janeiro} is photographing her subjects as a means to express a deeper issue; identifying social, cultural and racial identity across all borders. This non-passive communication between people, through the eyes of an industry standard colour coding system, allows us to visually acknowledge and love the diversity of humankind around us.

A concept so simple, is so complex, as it displays individuals in their most natural state. It's expressing beauty in its truest form and allows us to celebrate the variety of skin tones found around the world.

Humanae is simply beautiful and inspiring.

WEDDING WEEK: STYLE GUIDE

It's wedding season! Which means most of you probably have more than one to attend this summer. We want to make your decision process on what to wear for any style of wedding, a little easier for you! We have handpicked our top three, all courtesy of the beautiful selections available at Blossom Lounge

1. Beach Wedding: This applies to destination weddings, and most commonly held outdoors. If the location is in the tropics, we say go for a fun summer colour and flirty cut. To stay cool, wear something lightweight you can dance, take pictures in and feel comfortable wearing through the humidity. We love this orange Charlie Jade dress for the fun details; the back is a cut out style, which makes for more breathability, as well as reveals skin in an appropriate way.

2. Formal Wedding: We believe a large, banquet hall bash calls for a floor length dress! It adds instant glamour and sophistication. The rich colour of this One Contrarian dress is completely stunning. It also has a backless feature, that is reminiscent of something you'd see worn on the red carpet. It encapsulates such an elegance.

3. Backyard Wedding: The laidback, cozy and casual nature of a backyard wedding can make it difficult to decide what to wear. Do you wear a sundress and flip flops or a gown!? It can be confusing, so we think the best choice is a balance of the two. This Flying Tomato offers comfort, and has a romantic twist, with lace detailing that just makes it look more feminine and fancy. We love this dress in green as well! We love the word fancy as well :)

Stay tuned for more posts this week to help you prepare for any weddings (or just special events) you are scheduled to attend this summer!

Turquoise week continues...on the eyes! A simple tutorial on how to incorporate a bright colour to your eye makeup without looking over done. We like to make eyeshadows into bright eyeliners, or highlight the inner tear ducts, while keeping the rest of the look neutral. Just simply wet the tip of your angled brush, dip it in your eyeshadow (just a little goes a long way) and apply to your lower lash line. We love this look, especially in turquoise for a quick and easy summer look, that adds something unexpected. It will illuminate your face and bring attention to your gorgeous eyes, making the colour of them really stand out. Reminiscent of an ocean turquoise blue. Apply bronzer and a pale pink blush, to give the rest of your face that sunkissed glow.

NEW ARRIVAL: RGB Nail Colors!

Nothing gets me more excited then an array of colour; especially when that array of colour is in the form of nail polish. Nail polish is one of those things that you can change with your moods and express yourself any way you want, anytime of year. What girl doesn't love that?

With gorgeous colours that range from pink to white to minty green; I can't wait to try blossom lounge's newest line of nail polish called RGB cosmetics. RGB nail polishes are chip-resistant, a high shine formula and free of harmful chemicals which means no Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP (dibutyl phthalate), Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor.

there's more! A collaboration between green Celebrity Stylist Jenna Hipp and RGB founder Gina Carney has resulted in an exciting collection of colours that are the first skin tone specific, full coverage, all nude nail colors. The collection is called HIPPxRGB and includes an opaque 'nail foundation' line and a sheer 'nail tint' line of colours. They are now on my must have list!

This fabulous new line arrives at blossom lounge this week; see you there!
